Why nobody checks your receipt.

Most supermarkets put a person at the door to check your bag against your receipt. We don’t. It slows down every honest customer to catch almost nobody, and it says something we don’t believe — that you’re a suspect until a stamp says otherwise.

So: no queue at the counter, no one at the exit, staff who actually know where things are. You came for bread at ten at night. We’d rather you got home.

If something’s out of stock, we call first.

Before we pack a delivery order, we check it. If an item’s gone, we call you and offer the closest thing we have. If we can’t reach you, we refund that item — the money, not a voucher.
